The real name of Bangkok is so long that it is entered the Guinness Book of Records as the place with the longest name, i.e. Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit which is translated in English as, The city of angels, the great city, the residence of the Emerald Buddha, the impregnable city of Ayutthaya (Lord Indra), the grand capital of the world endowed with nine precious gems, the happy city, abounding in an enormous Royal Palace that resembles the heavenly abode where reigns the reincarnated god, a city given by Indra and built by Vishnukarn.
The meaning of its name would be sufficient to explain to you why the city is such a great tourist attraction. It is beautiful. It is both old and new and one of the most active commercial cities in Asia.
